South African court has ordered for the release of a seized Tanzanian aircraft  after the seizure of the plane on August 24th, 2019 at the Johannesburg airport.

The seizure of the plane was accompanied by a court application by a Tanzanian farmer to whom the Tanzanian government is to pay some bills for compensation over  the land of about $13 million including other interest.

Though Tanzanian government acknowledged the debt and initiated payments, the petitioner’s lawyers confirmed that since the farmer has not received any payment since the year 2014.

The impounding at the time was seen as a major blow for Air Tanzania, after inaugurating its Johannesburg services just two months earlier.

Tanzania, such as a good number of national fliers, have high hopes on the revival of the country’s national airline
